Some newlyweds use engravings on their wedding rings to remind each other of their undying love – but one Michigan woman has decided to use it as a chance to gently remind her new hubby of their commitment.
Amanda Tallman had the words ‘Put it back on’ engraved on the inside rim of his wedding ring when they married five years ago.
“She’s a prankster. She’s got a great sense of humour,” Dan Tallman, 30.
However, when a friend shared a picture of the ring to Reddit, the image was viewed more than 850,00 times in two days and sparked debate.
“That’s not controlling or creepy at all…” one user wrote.
“My first thought was ‘I bet they have an amazing relationship’,” replied another.
“You wouldn't put that on a wedding ring without total confidence and also knowing the other person totally understands your humour”.
“I read it as him being an idiot that loses things. Mostly because I am an idiot that loses things,” joked one person.
Mr Tallman admitted that some people had responded to the engraving in a negative way.
“Some people are commenting that she must be insecure or something, but it’s quite the opposite,” he said.
“People tell us we have the best marriage they’ve ever seen”.
The couple have three children and Mr Tallman says even five years down the track, the ring still makes him laugh.
“We ordered the ring at the jeweller and she slipped the lady a note and then when the ring came in I saw it for the first time,” he said.
“I just laughed. That’s Amanda in nutshell”.
